<VV> wheel backspacing question!

Well, Im back with more questions about my tire/wheel sizes.

     I'm going with 225-50-15's on the front, on 15x7 wheels, and 245-50-15's on the back, on 15x8 wheels.

     On the fronts I will use third-gen 15x7 wheel camaro backspacing (if anyone knows what that is please let me know).  

     I need someone to let me know what the best backspacing is to use on the 15x8's at the rear (no body mods). 

     If someone could explain exactly how backspacing measuring works it would probably help me a great deal.  Is it the distance from the inner mounting surface to the inner edge of the wheel in inches?
