You could do a lot with a Saginaw 4-speed just by swapping the input gear 
and the cluster gear, all others stayed the same and I see no reason that 
would not apply to a Corvair trans (imagine someone here knows). Looks like 
stock was a 3.11 first gear, same as the Vega but I know of 2.98 (V-8 
Monza) , 2.84, & 2.54 gearsets (all ratios changed proportionately) as well 
as a 3.50 stump puller.

Can you just swap ?
