Anyone who lives north of the Manson-Nixon line knows, salt will eat a car up.
But NOT if you take care of it. No reason not to spray off the body and  underbody of ANY car you drive up north every couple of days, then once the spring rains wash all the salt away, you get the car on the lift, pressure wash it, and use paint and undercoat after you grind away any corrosion with 3m biscuits on a angle die grinder. 

I did that to my October/April (winter beater) car when I lived in Buffalo, it lasted for years and was only driven in the winter months on salt encrusted roadways.
