140 /4...mostly stock?  most likely 3.55 rear diff gear?    Stockish tires? [ 
24" diameter].

You always want the engine revving over 2,500 rpm if accelerating.....forget 
4th until 40-45mph on level ground.

NEVER let the engine go below 1800 rpm in any gear, unless coasting....shift 
down!

Just remember 2 things:

Engine  will run at 5000 rpm all day long [ longer than you could stand the 
noise!]

Engine   is not controlled by a computer [ auto adjustments]  it's up to the 
driver to adjust!
