Oh there were casualties on/off the track too, I wont specify who but the ones I saw were:  (all corvair, cause that's where the team spirit was)
   
  Run out of gas
  rear engine mount nut fell off
  alternator/generator failure
  Hiem joint looseness
   
  Now all of these minor problems were overcome with the help of friends and assorted tools/parts. Some drivers continued on. Others were wise and decided it was time to put them back on the trailers.
   
   All by very experienced Corvair pilots, but I think all had fun. I did, and only watched. Said hello to John Fitch and old friends. For all those close enough to go but couldn't, you missed the sights and sounds of some VERY high performance machines.
