OK, I'll chime in here too. I just joined CORSA. Charlies ads didn't
keep me from joining at all. I joined because of the organization
itself, and the benefits of membership. Also because I love getting that
beautiful Communique, with it's glossy cover, usually with a picture of
a beautiful Corvair on the front. And of course for the wealth of info
inside. I love reading the classifieds as well. I see Charlie's ads as a
dying art. They sort of remind me (not that I'm old enough to actually
remember them) of the old Burmah Shave roadsigns, I don't know why, but
they do. They sort of have that same charm, same disjointedness. I'll
admit, I was a little confused at first, but I can understand what he's
trying to sell. His ads harken back to the heyday of classified
newspaper ads, where someone would try to fit as much info into as small
a space as they could by abreviating everything. That's my take on it. I
think anyone who's concerned about what those outside the Corvair hobby
think of our organization based on a few small ads in the back of a
newsletter doesn't understand the true nature of the Corvair nut. This
kind of individual would like to see the Corvair hobby become like"
highbrow" art. The Corvair and it's drivers have never been "highbrow."
Perhaps these people would be more at home in say, the Duesenberg club?

I dunno,
