Were those the cars "supposedly" dumped to the bottom of (which) one of the 
great lakes?

 one dud landed in 1923 with the 1924 Series C, with the copper-cooled four 
cylinder engine. The Charles "boss" Kettering design used forced air to cool 
the engine, but the copper fins separated from the cast-iron cylinders. Out 
of the 759 produced, only about 100 were sold ...and they were recalled."
