That is a heck of a variation. Could others with a timing light and a 
Pertronix (I or II) please check: just at idle, check the timing using the 
#1 plug and the #2 plug. They should be the same. I just put mine on the 
coil wire and see two distinct TDC marks - one at 14 degrees for #1 and the 
other at 10 degrees for #2.
