As long as the offset is reasonable a 15 x 6 is not a big wheel to put
on a Corvair. Lots of us run 16 x 8's. I used to autocross with 15 x
8's. I'm sure someone will tell you what you need for offset. You could
probably find it yourself on Bryan Blackwell's web page. 4" is probably
about right.

The 4" figure Bruce is calling out is not offset, it is backspace. With a
six inch wide wheel, just about any backspace from 3.25" to 4" should work okay.
A 15 x 6 will be fine. Clearance will also be a function of tire size. If
you run a 205/55-15 all around, with the 15 x 6 on the front and a 15 x 7 on
the rear, it should match and clear. If you want to retain front to rear
rotation, use the 15 x 6 all around. That tire can be used on anything froma 5.5
inch to a 7.5 inch. - Seth Emerson
