Yes, but not yet ONE language, which is a problem at least for older
people.
But border lines/customs are indeed hardly visible nowadays, and you
can drive around freely, have to stop only at French highway toll boots ;-)

As my earlier postings show I also see the situation less dramatic
nowadays, but there sure is lots of bad history on his travel route;
recently read a lot about this in a biography of General Pershing, who
has been around exactly this area with the AEF in WW I, as you guys
are sure aware. And Verdun is just an hour north of Nancy.
