there was a problem with washer pumps not shutting off other than  electrical 
. i cant remember the exact problem now ,after 35-40 years from working on 
them under warranty, but the  shaft the plastic cam on tipps, or is worn ,or 
something like that ,causing it to still grab the lever from the pump.  sorry i 
cant bring up better info without looking at a motor apart. take a close look 
at it with the cover off.
