Rudy, you got lucky.  When I was in high school (not as long ago as most of 
you), I had taken our '66 Corsa daily driver out to look at another Vair.  
When I got back in the car, and shut the door, the wire must have come off 
the back of the lighter, and grounded out on the dash, burning all the 
insulation off just about every wire on the car, including the battery 
cables.  It was fun stuff, let me tell you.
