<VV> Color My Vair -- Update

Here in Lansing there are lots of stories about people who ordered Oldsmobiles with nonstandard color schemes. I wonder if this wasn't a special order color. One thing you might consider is to find out whether Fisher Body used 911 in some other make or model. If you ever did decide to repaint the car, it might be worth it to be careful in stripping to see if any trace of the original paint is underneath the current color.

Hi Norm:

This is the third time I've checked the Fisher Body tag on my 1960 Monza...and among other codes, it says:

Paint 911

I know the car [some time in the past] was completely painted metallic green [by the original owner] and I've already checked in:

1- http://www.corvaircorsa.com/pntcpc60.html

2- Chassis & Body Parts Catalog - Chevrolet Corvair 1960-69

3- Corsa Tech Guide (both volumes)

I have not found anything which divulges the original color for code "911" -

Incidentally, I'm just curious & I don't intend to repaint the car but, even looking under the dash...next to the steering column, no trace of the original color are found :)

Regards,

Tony
