We had our anual Fall Hoe Down at Paul's farm this weekend. People from some of the Virginia clubs get together at Paul's farm in Dinwiddy, VA and drive and eat and camp and wander throught the Corvair graveyard and BS. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of camping, I had a blast.

I got to drive the famous "Spike"! I'm just a bit bigger than Smitty so I barely fit but I somehow squeezed in and with my 9 year old son in the passenger seat we took off on the autocross coarse in the field. Unfortunately it had rained in the days before so the ground was a little muddy and slippery and I found that Corvairs like to swing their rears around under such conditions but nevertheless, it was FUN! Thank you Smitty for the privlege, sorry I didn't do Spike proud but you and Paul made up for me.

Smitty almost blew himself up lighting the giant bonfire Saturday night but luckily he escaped death and we had a nice fire and a nice time sitting around yapping. Good times, good times.

Unfortunately I didn't bring a Corvair. My convertible doesn't really hold enough gear plus its left rear bearing is now squeaking (I've already replaced the right rear and have the replacements for the left in hand). The recentrly aquired Rampside is making a noise I thought was the differential but I'm now convinced is the front right wheel bearing. So, Honda minivan it was. I got to enjoy everyone else's Corvairs anyway.

Smitty says the crowd is getting smaller and we did have less campers than last year although the daytime turnout was good. I personally hope it continues on for a long time.
