<VV> Spyder Turbo

Hi,

P in group 3 may be Comfort and Convenience, based on other '63 VN cars
examined to date. This code was used in VN only and may be like what was
done in '65 at that plant: To indicate 2-speed wiper/washer (which was part
of C&C on Corvair). (The plant was also building full-sized Chevys and
needed the code for that line, because it was available separately.)

It's good to see another VN car so that we can gather more data on this.
Glen, does this car have the 2-speed wiper and washer and do all of the
parts look original (dash switch, washer pump in trunk)? It's kinda hard to
tell sometimes because the dealer kit was essentially identical. The other
two items in the C&C group that year were the non-glare inside rear view
mirror and the outside rear view mirror, both of which were often and easily
added after the fact.

The numbers after the accessory codes are unknown and there are many
different varieties. These numbers are not seen on Willow Run cars but are
seen on Van Nuys and Oakland cars. They do not appear to have much meaning
today.

A rust free body is a great starting place. Hopefully that one rusty spot
isn't a rocker....

12B = Build date of 2nd week of Dec 1962 Style 63-0967 = 1963 Monza Vert
(Spyder was an option) VN = Van Nuys built 300th vert body down assembly
line Trim 1-727 = White interior with white top Paint 948 = Honduras Maroon
exterior

ACC =
	F=Tinted Windshield
	2=GROUP 2
	C=Padded dash
	D=Powertop
	L= (Convertible top code for VN?)
	3=GROUP 3
	C=Spyder Option
	P=
	12=

Not sure on the VN code for the L,P, or number 12? are you sure it is a
12?)

Tell us some more about the options you car has, reg caps, wire caps, KH
wire wheels, seat belts, rear antenna, etc....

Sounds like a nice platform to build car off of....

I just found, and brought home(!), a 1963 Turbo Spyder convertible.
It's been sitting in the desert. The plate reads:
12 B Detroit Mich.
Style 63-0967
VN 300
Trim 1-727 Paint 948
ACC F 2CDL 3CP 12
Spyder Turbo 150 HP

It has Nevada plates and it looks like the last time it was registered was
1974. Body is straight and it looks like there's only one rust place. The
interior is shot.

We don't know if it runs yet, did I do good?
