I thought I read that the flywheel was supplyed by Lon.
The ring gear is tacked to the pressure plate at, maybe 10 places (don't 
quote me); why they break, I don't know, but when you look at them, they 
look perfectly fine. Pry on the ring gear, and you'll see the weld seperate 
if it's bad.
Same deal with torque converters.
