Visibility! My late uncle owned a driving school. On his cars
and on his Honda Gold Wing he had a fiberglass rod (CB antenna maybe?)
with an orange flag on the end mounted to the rear bumper. He drove
that Gold Wing everywhere! He encouraged his students to do the same.
He told all to be as "visible as possible".

180 Corsa CVT (without a flagpole...)

He passed away from natural causes.

Is a significant reason I sold the Fiero. Once too often a giant SUV
started a lane change into my space, my roof being below their sight
line.
