I always thought maybe the original corvair idea was to combat the
mega-assault of the little VW beatles, and those awful Renault Dauphines,
etc. etc.......

......... in that, GM batted about 9000, I think.  Mission Accomplished.

Of course, Ford matched that with the Falcon, which was probably an even
better car for that market ..... I looked at  both, and bot the Falcon .....
but really lusted for the Corvair and it's zippy fun factor.  sigh.

So then the competition became the Falcon, and the 63 Falcon with it's
little 260 v8 was quite formidable .... the Mustang that followed left the
Vair in a smaller and smaller niche::: a near-toy, kinda like a motorbike or
the coming ATV ...

I got 4 of them vair things...
