Dave:

  Sounds like a thermally induced problem, check the wire from the distributer to

    the coil, look for shorts and bare wires.

  I had one in my ex's 64, drove me nuts trying to find it.

  It would run for 5 minutes then stop.

My 63 Spyder ignition cuts out for 5-10 seconds. The gen light comes on and then problem goes away and the car runs again.

This may happen 1or 3 times on a 50 mile trip.

Can the ballast resistor do this?? Poor grounds To engine??

Need advise B-4 I replace parts!!!
