<VV> "Buggy Bumpers" - OT

Since VV is a virtual treasure trove of miscellaneous and odd 
information, on an Oregon genealogy list, someone has asked about this 
-- does anyone have any words of wisdom / information I could pass on?

"Can anyone on this list tell me the correct term for the metal edges 
that used to be
put on cement curbs so that buggys, wagons, etc. wouldn't bread down the 
edges
when they cut the corners too close?
 
"I've always called them Buggy Bumpers, but I can't google that term."
