<VV> Engine noise

After driving a 1965 140 PG convertible in the County Fair parade today, I 
noticed a sound that was not there before. While I originally thought the car 
was simply ticked from driving over so much horse poop, it appears more serious. 
It is a loud tinny sort of rattle when accelerating. It goes away when 
leveling off in speed and is not there when the car is in neutral. So, while I 
suspect something transmission related, I thought I would check with youse guys. 
The tranny shifts fine up and down and the noise is not speed related. The car 
was, of course, the crowd favorite and got more pictures than the beauty queens.
