Why not just pull the coil wire off and let the engine crank over for a
few seconds/minutes, this could done periodically thru the storage
period and you wouldn't have to worry about draining oil out if you
wanted to take it out for a winter time spin and grin.

Perhaps a dumb thought and would be practical only on a pancake engine,
but 
for long term storage why not just overfill the crankcase prior to
storage, 
enough so that the crank is submerged. This should also be enough to
fill 
the rockers. Only cost would be the extra oil and to remember to drain 
before starting.
