Couldn't you just cycle power (disconnect the battery) to reset the light?
As a last resort you could just remove the bulb. Since you were not going to pay the dealer to reset the light and drive around with it on, you wouldn't be using it as a warning light anyhow, so why waste the electricity?

Not entirely sure a bout new Subarus but the older ones had that light come on automatically at 30,000 mile increments to get you to bring the car in for "service" at your friendly neighborhood Subaru dealership which is the only place you can find a diagnostics computer that's programmed to turn the damned light off.
