Well if worse comes to worse and you have to pull the transmission, know
that it can be removed individually.  This isn't too hard and is much
simpler than pulling the entire powertrain.  
1) Support the transaxle at the differential
2) Remove the front transmission support, uncouple shifter and so-on
3) Lower the engine/diff/trans until the trans is low enough to clear floor.
Note, they usually don't go quite low enough, but if the trans is rotated 90
deg as it comes down, it will clear.
Note also, you will have to disconnect perimeter seals and possibly some
fuel and electrical in the firewall area.
4) Remove the transmission bolts and slide it forward on the input shaft.
(about 18" to clear)

Using a lift makes the job pretty much a no-brainer and you can have the
trans out in 20-30 minutes.
