Hey Ya'll,
A couple months ago, I e-mailed in with the problem of me accidentally flipping my corvair into reverse while driving forward at about 35 mph coming to a stop light. Well, This past Saturday and the Saturday before that was spent working on the engine. New vacuum lines were attached to new carburetors with new carb spacers (which weren't there before) and new carb gaskets. New fuel lines were installed, a new-matching-distributor was place in with new points, cap, lines, and plugs. I put in a new engine mount due to the fact that mine was broken. I put on a new manifold on the right side with new donuts to the heads. Valve adjustments, carb syncing, and timing were adjusted. New heater hoses were installed and currently I'm working on putting the thermostats, rods, and doors together so the engine can regulate it air flow underneath itself. The problem I'm having right now is putting the car in gear. When I'm at a dead stop while the car is in gear (like waiting at a traffic light), the engine dies. Every time it looks like I have to stop, I flip it into neutral before stops, so the engine continues to runs and I have to put a little charge of gas into the engine while in neutral before flipping it into gear and going on my way. This problem is very irritating and I'm setting myself up for another flip-it-into-reverse problem. My Dad also suspects that there is a higher performance cam in the car; does that conflict with anything? Please send advice, thanks!

In Christ
