Lon, I think that Les is asking about the line boring process wherein
material is taken off the block parting face(s), then the bearing holes are
line bored back to standard size. This does not result in needing bearings
with oversize backshells. Since this brings the heads closer together,
though, all kinds of ramifications could occur (like bellhousing and rear
accy cover bolt pattern changes, pushrod lengths, etc..). I don't know if
this is significant to worry about, though. Is there any info re this in the
VW community I wonder?
