(crossposted to VV-talk which is where the thread should go)

Ahh... opinions... now you've gotten me started.

Not in any particular order:

The F-104 Starfighter

...wasn't half-bad looking... world speed record holder for a while,
the "missile with a man in it". Could climb vertical at mach-1+.

Supermarine Spit (later variants)

I'm partial to the later vintage Spitfires... great looking airplane
and with the Griffin they were real
performers. http://www.militaryairshows.net/legends03/img_7498.jpg

Lockheed Constellation

What can you say about lines like that? Beautiful to look at,
especially in the air in a fly-by. Arguably THE best looking
airliner to ever fly. http://www.zyeuter.com/data/big/51861.jpg

Douglas DC-3

It's aesthetically simply perfect... function and form together, and
it's such a sweet sound on take-off. You can always ID a DC-3 when
it flies overhead because almost nothing else sounds like
that. First airliner I ever set foot in was a Piedmont Air
DC-3.

FW-190C "Storm Bird"

It just looks right. A glance at it and you get the impression of
pure danger in the sky. It had aggressive looks and performance to
match and it was extraordinarily capable. Graceful in the air, and
the big radial let you know it had
horsepower. http://www.nnavirex.com/shotpierre/Fw190F-2_5.SchG1.jpg

Convair F-106 Dart

Sleek, graceful, fast. Like an arrowhead in the sky. It looked
like it was going Mach-2 just parked on the tarmack. Scary fast,
almost 1600 mph, lightning quick even by today's
standards.

Staggerwing Beech-17

If you ever saw one you'll know what I mean. Epitome of
bipes. http://airteamimages.com/imageFiles/uploads/31947_800.jpg

Aero/Shrike Commander

I know, it's just a civil aviation twin but it's so nice to look
at. http://www.flightsimonline.com/Shrike/Image274.jpg

Beech-18

I never knew why the wingtips were like that, but the rest is just
handsome. GREAT noisemaker as it flies over, pure radial
clatter. One of my very favorite
airplanes.

Martin B-26 Marauder

Who'd a thunk that a WW-II bomber could ever be graceful and sleek
and pleasing to look at? http://avions.legendaires.free.fr/Images/Gb26-2.jpg

DeHavilland DHC-7

Scarce, obscure, beautiful, graceful. Four props makes it look
impressive. http://www.wetwing.com/civil/chalks/chalksfoto/dhc7.jpg

I have other "favorites" but I don't wanna clutter...

tony..
