<snip>I am looking for all the info I can find on Corvans. We had one given
to us about 4 years ago, and need to "prove" to our Township Board that it
is not "junk" ( we know that it isn't) Any info, websites would be
appreciated. I have production numbers for the Corvan, and some info on it's
production. How do I read the VIN? We have all the books for our 66, but not
for this. Want to find out what number this one is in production number,
etc. J. Taylor

Corvans, the utility version of the van body, were produced from 1961 to
1964. They were replaced by the more conventional 1965 ChevyVan 90/108.
Production:
1961 15,806
1962 13,491
1963 11,161
1964 8147

The '61 4-speed models had a unique "granny-gear" transmission, '62 models
added rain deflection gutters on the roof edges. 63.5 models had an improved
(floor mounted) shifter. '64 models got the bigger 164 CID engine, an
improved rear access door (recessed license lights) and the '64 FC 4-speed
trans is a unique and desirable unit. Corvan window and door configurations
vary widely and the number of window and doors affects the rareness. An
8-door windowless, for example, would elicit more interest than the common
6-door with rear door windows.

What year and configuration is yours?
