<VV> question about manual shifter / shift pattern on early FC

The shift pattern is the same, a standard H. Imagine a step. Fist a
horizontal plane, then vertical up, then another horizontal The
shifter is located on the vertical plane, not "on the floor". Hence
the up and down movement as opposed to front to back. Yup, it takes a
bit to get used to. Adjust the linkage, make sure it's tight, then
make sure you don't do 70 on the freeway unless you have a fire
extinguisher and tow truck handy. Really, it's much faster that way.
