I recently dealt with a customer who took his car to a "Corvair Mechanic" to have his new carbs adjusted. The mechanic had a problem getting a smooth idle, and decided to diagnose the problem by switching the primary carbs. But, in doing so, messed up one of the base gaskets. He ordered one from a LAPS, but it was the wrong one. He then asked the owner to have me over-night some to them....does anyone see the "humor" in this? Have you ever known a commercial garage that didn't have a gasket making kit....or at least a razor blade :-)? I talked them out of it...all is well.
