Alternately, the good folks at GM incorporated this as a safety
feature.  Early on, they realized the hazards associated with having the
bar next to the driver so they put the bottle rack in the trunk.  Fill
the bottle with your favorite beverage.  I suggest a good bourbon but
like so many Corvair related decisions, it comes down to personal
preference.  At the end of your day's drive, your bottle will be there
to greet you when you open the trunk.  Doesn't get much more civilized
than that.  Cheers.
