<VV> LM Engine compartment Paint

While working on my red 65 convertible today, I noticed something that I 
thought was odd.  The inside rim of the engine compartment just inside the 
rubber seal under the decklid is red.  I've never paid attention before.

What's correct?  I think it's supposed to be black along with the rest of 
the engine compartment.  I would think the rubber seal draws the line 
between the two colors.
