I am planning on installing dual Exhaust from Clark's. I examined my
exhaust pipe to manifold studs and found them badly eroded. Soaked them
with WD40.

Allen,

Forget the WD-40. It's not designed to do what you need done. Anybody
who works on Corvairs (or any other 40+ year old car) needs a can of PB
Blaster in the garage. (Kroil and Seafoam Deep Creep are also
recommended by other members of VV, but I haven't used either of them
yet.)

Also, lots of heat and gently alternating tightening and loosening the
nut may get them off without snapping the stud. It worked for three of
the four studs on Christine.
