<VV> three point seat belts/ shoulder harnesses

Dave
I mounted it on the "C" pillar. If mounted on the package shelf the tail
strap will have to come up across the back of the rear seat if you have a
seat in place - it is not supposed to go around anything, even on the panel
below the rear window looked like it would hit the top edge of the seat
back.
I had considered several locations. After reading the information that came
with the harness I decided on the pillar. Schroth sells backing plates - I
had the supplier find out the dimensions of the plates then made some out of
plate steel with a nut welded on - same as the ones they sell.
I have no cardboard liner etc. in my package area yet so after drilling a
hole in the pillar I was able to hold the backing plate up inside the pillar
through the factory hole in the body panel and screw the mounting bolt into
the plate. The tail strap just clears the back of the back seat.
I mounted the inertia switches on a small piece of flat stock.
Can try to get some pics in the next day or so if you want.
I mounted the cut out switches between the front seats on a bracket fastened
by a seat bolt. They are very nice harnesses, by the way.
Perhaps there is a better way, but that is what I came up with. Hope this
helps.
  Mark

Mark,

I am going to use the same harness, but was planning to mount it to the
"package shelf" with appropriate backing. Did you mount your's on the C
pillar itself or on the package shelf next to the C pillar? If the
former, how did you back it?

I used Schroth three point harness, the "Autocontrol" model, which has a
recoil mechanism on it so you can lean forward etc. with the harness on.
It
has tilt and inertia switches to lock the mechanism in case of extreme
tilt,
accident etc. I also installed manual lock switches so the recoil
mechanism
can be locked for autocross etc. Switches are all electrical, so have
to
run power to them. Also has a disconnect at the "Y". I fastened the
tail
strap at the base of the rear pillar so it runs just above the top of
the
rear seat back so it only has a slight downward angle.
