Hi Bob,

So what your saying is that an acceptable amount of phosphorus is .10%-.14%.
That's 1/10th to 1/7th of 1% !! For a quart that works out to
.032oz-.045oz. That isn't much but in this case, a little goes a long way.

On breaking in our new engine for our UltraVan, I'll be following some
advice I got from various sources including you and Jim Davis. I'll be
using Valvoline 10w40 and 1 pint of GM's EOS # 1052367 for the first few oil
changes. After that, I'll be using Valvoline 10w40 with GM's Cam and Lifter
prelube # 12345501 (4oz added to oil). After a few thousand miles, I'll
switch to synthetic and add the 4oz bottle of Cam and Lifter prelube for the
life of the engine. Adds about $6.50 to the price of an oil change but is
cheap insurance to ensure more ZDDP is in the oil. No idea how much ZDDP is
in the two GM products, just going off of a recommendation. As I
understand, too much is a no-no also.

For
>SJ and SL it is 0.10%. For SM without the Starburst, it is still the
>same!!!!! And for CJ-4 the spec is 0.12%, down from 0.14% for CI-4.
