Most readily agree to use a   Vega / GM   2  segment oil pressure switch [ 
onecircuit for your light and the other to control the pump].

Just connect to the Junction stud in the engine compartment [ dreaded RED 
platic thingy]  with a Fuse.....

Then it's automatic.....no engine running [ no pressure]  no fuel pump[

Cold starts are a breeze....a few seconds to get oil pressure and away you 
go....

Normal driving times.....carbs always have gas in them...
