<VV> Welded vs. Bolted flywheels

Does anyone out there have any first hand experience with welded flywheels. I have one I've been using for 22yrs. with no problems. It has been used with 2 "performance" engines and spent ten years in "Rampy" where it was used and abused, and given ample opportunity to fail. After all this time, no cracks, no warpage, no alien abduction. Is there really a problem with welded flywheels, or is this a myth propagated by the "flywheel bolters"
