That's a VERY common problem at tire dealers. I don't know if the kids

working there are told to do that or are just plain stupid but I have often

been very irritated at that attitude and quit one local dealer when they

argued about my requested Corvair tire pressures.

I had a GOOD day at a tire store recently. I am in the process of restoring
my 66. I needed a couple of "good" used tires to hold me over until I paint
the car, so I headed to the local, used tire shop.

There was one fellow that might have been in his 40's who at least
recognized the Corvair. The others were much younger, in their teens and
early 20's. I don't think any of them had ever been this close to a
Corvair. They didn't question the pressure differential at all. I asked
for 20 in the front and 28 in the rear. No problem. They were having so
much fun with the car; they would have gone with 10 and 50 if I'd asked
them.

One kid even asked if he could take some pictures of the engine. He said
his friends weren't going to believe him. They were genuinely interested in
the car and I had a blast sharing with them. It reminded me of when I was a
teenager working at the local garage. We loved cars, all cars.
