<VV> Long Distance Selling

Has anyone sold a car to a buyer who is many states
away? How is this normally done? I want to make sure
that we both can feel secure about the transaction and
avoid fraud. I have someone who is interested, but on
the other coast (and no, it's not one of the e-mails I
sent to the list the other day).

I know cashier's checks are usually the best way, but
you still have to wait for them to clear. Is it fair
to ask him to send money and wait 2 weeks for it to
clear? If not, what can I do to make it fair and help
him not think I'm taking his money for a vacation?
How about Paypal as a money transfer? Anyone gone
that route?

>From what I can see, maybe it's fair for him to
request a copy of the title in advance to show I own
the car, and a 3rd party inspection is probably ok
too. We are trying to arrange for a local vair
mechanic to do an independant inspection. I'm good
with that, but the payment and timing of shipping are
a little tricky. Any advice?

Thanks,
-John Headley
