If'n I was to take this approach, I don't know about that read-i-ator 
hose for fuel -- I'd suggest using something like fuel tank filler hose, 
if you can get it in an appropriate size. Yes, it's probably more 
expensive than that other hose, but on the other hand, they probably 
sell it by the inch at your FLAPS.

Are you sure the tubes can't be reversed from how you are trying to 
install it (using the carb insulators mentioned earlier or some such?)

(manifold bolts horizontal at the plenum)

How about head work, like maybe the cylinder register surface has been 
milled down on the two heads about the amount your manifold doesn't line 
up?  I just have trouble imaging IECO having made this to not fit.
