Mr Smitty Smith taught me to use a cut off cap tip from a differential lube bottle (or equivalent) as a special tool. Cut it so it just fits the cup retainer and slip the cup over it. Works like a charm and saves on the curse words. I still needed a little lube even with the special tool.
