I have a few thoughts on the build quality of 1969 models.
I have a 1969 Convertible and a 1966 Convertible. I noticed that the 66 seemed to be put together better,
with better fit to components attached to the car.
Its not that the 1969 is all that bad, but I have found numerous places in the interior of the car that has screws missing.
I figured "no big deal", I'll just get some extra screws from my parts drawer and replace the missing ones.
Well I found that the factory did not even drill the body to allow attaching these screws. Whats up with that!!

My second thought about earlier posts on build quality is the largely "body defects" issues that that were noted.
You can't blame the change from the regular assembly line to pilot line for the body flaws,
since the bodies are provided by Fisher body and has nothing to do with the chevy assembly side.
At least to my knowledge. So alot of the defects noted, should be more directed at the Fisher body
side of the manufacturing process. Anyone have any ideas why the Fisher side was putting out lower quality cars bodies in 1969?
It's possible that the low number of Corvair bodies to other model bodies produced at the Fisher plant may be the reason.
Remember that out of approx 389000 bodies produced at the Willow Run Fisher plant that year, only 6000 were Corvairs.
A ratio of 65 to 1. Thoughts?
