Google corvair electric conversion...you'll have to dig some thru electric fans and chokes.  There's a company in california that has the corvair pattern listed for the adapter to a DC motor.  Not cheap, or I would have done it already.  I think the EM is a good choice.  (Who would want to cut up a good LM? :D JK!!)
 
There are also a few conversions out there if you can find them.  A FC also makes a good conversion due to the available battery space.  There's one nicely done rampside, but I don't have links to it, can't remember where it is.  This might be it... http://www.evalbum.com/656
I doubt you'll see ranges listed that you like.  I was dissappointed when I was researching.
