anybody do powder coating at home?

I have been pretty successful powdercoating sheet metal parts and wheels with the low priced system from Eastwood. I also have a home (wide model) oven in my garage. I think the Harbor Freight system should be very similar to the Eastwood system and should work fine. I have found pre-heating the parts to 350 to 375 degrees for about 15 minutes after they have been completely cleaned (I use a sand blaster with aluminum oxide media) will remove any residual dirt, grease etc which tend to cause fish-eye and irregular coating of the plastic. After I started pre-heating, I have gotten a perfectly smooth, contamination free finish every time. The old paint removal and cleaning are the keys. Harbor Freight does not carry very many colors or gloss levels. I buy all my powders from Eastwood. Go for it! Its fun and lasts better than paint.
