<VV> Fan belt throwing

Having not only thrown but eaten, chewed, chunked severed and butchered three fan belts this past week end at the track event I attended I want to tell what I learned.
When a belt comes adrift at speed it is violent! I was surprised to see what damage it will do. The cross shaft for the carb linkage was bent. There were belt "skid marks" all over my engine compartment and I'm still finding small pieces of the old belts in the nooks and crannies around the engine. I can now see the benefits of steel fuel lines and or heavy hose! Take heed out there.
