<VV> Jacking a Corvair

I have owned Corvairs since 1962. I have always jacked the car up by
putting my floor jack under the differential. I have never broken a
bell housing or had to replace motor mounts or transmission mounts. I
guess I am the bumble bee who doesn't know he can't fly so he does it
anyway!
There are plenty of dune buggies running around without rear engine
mounts. The differential is bolted solid to the frame and the weight of
the engine just hangs off the bell housing. I did see one break once
after the guy jumped off a sand hill, flew thru the air about 50 feet
and landed on the rear of the engine. The forces at the moment of
impact were probably 10 times what you would ever see on a road car.
