The other day I got my September issue of the Goodguys Goodtimes Gazette and
as usual, I scoured it for Corvairs. Normally I come up with nothin', but
this time I got a bunch!

On pages 21 and 76 they have Mike Myers' late model that rides on a Monte
Carlo chassis. Of course it is V8 powered and it made it to the street rod
finals of the drags at Indy, but got beat by a '63 409 Impala.

Also at Indy, there is a caption less picture on page 65 of cars waiting to
drive on the Indianapolis Speedway. At the front of the line is a purple
early, that appears to have a '63 grille bar stretched across a gaping hole
above the bumper, suggesting yet another V8 powered car.

>From the Atlanta event they have a picture on page 136 of Ken Arnold's
beautiful yellow and white '63 Rampside with a SBC in the bed. I remember
this car from the Daytona convention. There were several of us drooling over
what Ken had created when one of them said, "I just want to go home and kick
mine!" My sentiments exactly.

For all you purists, the mag has one picture of a Corvair powered Corvair!
On page 156 is Joe Whitaker's '62 Monza Wagon. It has a beautiful red on
bottom, silver top paint job and what appears to be a '60 grille bar instead
of the '62 dual grille bars. Looks very nice, especially with the surfboard
on the roof.

So when Goodguys comes to your area, take your Corvair! It just might make
the magazine and even if it doesn't it gets you a great parking spot and the
rights to cruise the show grounds, if you chose.
