Well, today was the big day - the 110 in the 66 "parts" Corsa was
almost ready to fire after its piston/barrel swap - this is the
engine with the burned piston that ran smooth but the crankcase vent
looked like a blast furnace at full bore. Bolt on the exhaust, prime
the oil system, and install the distributor. It really helps to have
teenage sons for this, we did the prime the engine while turning the
crank drill.

It took a fair amount of cranking to get fuel, but the good news is
the engine fired up, and after some warming and setting the timing,
the engine ran for a good 20 minutes and the lifters mostly quieted
down. Hopefully tomorrow the boys can wash it and we'll take it for
a drive and get some gas in it. Then it's on to teaching Stefan (#1
son) how to drive a stick.s

We also bolted the "new" driver's seat in the "new" wagon. Once both
seats are in it'll get an engine tune up and brake flush, it'll be
ready for tags and that first drive. I have Trevor (#2 son) working
up a to do list for the car as it is solid but needs all the usual
things replaced - including the 10 year old Michelins.
