Tim-I use the electric only to pump up the carbs after car has been setting for a week or more and as a backup in case of the mechanical's failure which has left me stranded several times. I have a cutoff switch to shut it off when the car is being operated. Ken

i have had very little problems with fuel pumps over the years , because (i
think anyway) i always loosen the screws on the cover and push the pushrod up
as far as possible with a bar , then tighten the screws. i have done this on
any fuel pumps i install since an old timer parts guy suggested that to
anyone buying fuel pumps from him years ago. i think i even read it in a manual
or on a slip in an old fuel pump box somewhere. i have installed many new
pumps without issues , so it must help some.
listening to this list makes me paranoid (very cautious?) putting new pumps
on these days..as i do not like the electric idea on carbureted cars , unless
a lot of safeties are included.
regards, all pumped out , tim colson
