<VV> timing '63 engine

I am trying to set the timing on my '63 which calls for 8 degree BTDC.  
I am currently without a timing light and hope someone can tell me the 
following.  There are 3 marks on the flywheel with the center one "0".  
How many degress apart are each of the other marks?
I've tried slightly rotating the distributor to just ping and moving it 
back slightly but still get a slight miss on deceleration.
Thanks for any suggestions.
I've replaced plugs, wiring, dist. cap, points, condensor and coil.
